Home United hope they won't have the same lapses of concentration that saw their S.League winning streak come to an end when they continue their AFC Cup journey on Tuesday.

The Singapore giants will travel to Manila this weekend ahead of Tuesday's ASEAN zone semifinal, first leg, against Global FC.

Home were knocked out of second spot on the S.League table on Friday night by Tampines Rovers, who handed them a 3-2 defeat at Jalan Besar Stadium.

It was the Protectors' first defeat in eight league games in 2017, and saw them blow an early lead against the inconsistent Stags.

Home had seemed in control of the game after taking a 13th-minute lead through rookie forward Amiruldin Asraf. But their usually resolute defence was breached three times in 14 minutes before half-time, and the game was as good as over.

"We lost concentration and we had to pay for it today," Home United coach Aidil Sharin said.

"That is football. We try to keep the unbeaten run, but today we failed. The second half was much better because we knew that we had nothing to lose after trailing 3-1.

"We have to look forward [to the AFC Cup] because there is nothing else we can do."

Tampines didn't make it past the group stage of the AFC Cup -- they lost four of six group games -- but are now the nearest challengers of high-flying Albirex Niigata (S) in the S.League. They have won six of eight matches to sit four points behind the Japanese outfit on the table.

"It was a high-class football match with much pace, high intensity and good football from both sides," said Raab.

"The reaction [from Tampines after conceding early] was amazing, the boys showed quality and this is a good win for us," Stags' coach Jurgen Raab said.

Tampines will have a chance to trim the lead at the top of the table to a single point when they host Albirex on May 21.
